Bible Study – Well Versed: Biblical Answers To Today’s Tough Issues

Bible Study (Open to women and their spouses) – Well Versed: Biblical Answers to Today’s Tough Issues.

“Everyone knows the Bible speaks to our personal lives, our family life, our church life.  But what about the government?  What about our nation?  Does the Bible speak to those topics?  Government is found in four forms: Personal “government” (personal responsibility and personal restraint), Family government (structure: father, mother, child or children), Church government  (the biblical pattern for congregational life), Civil government (communities;  nations).

All four are vitally important.

But we often overlook the fact that the Bible speaks to community and national life.  After all, it is God who establishes nations.  It is God who establishes government.

Sometimes we tend to think (wrongly) that the Bible only speaks to personal issues, family life, church life, but somehow, God forgot about national and governmental life.  That is not the case.

Well Versed: Biblical Answers to Today’s Tough Issues addresses this huge void in people’s thinking by laying out the biblical underpinnings to approximately 30 political and social issues.” – Dr. Jim Garlow

Sunday evenings at 6:30pm at The Journey Cafe.  We will meet for approximately 8 weeks. Our first meeting, Sunday, September 25, we will discuss the first two chapters. Most of the chapters are relatively short, and each relative video we’ll watch is about 10-15 minutes long.  There are actually 30 chapters in the book, but we will focus on trying to get through the first 10-16.  Should things work out and anyone would like to continue on further, we can discuss that later.

Currently, there is a shortage on paper supply in purchasing the books in bulk through the Well Versed site for the discount.  To help facilitate this study in spite of the shortage, the Well Versed organization has gone ahead and sent a .pdf version of the book with the first 11 chapters to all study Leaders.  I will go ahead and place an order for the books anyway, and in the meantime I will pass along the link just for the first few chapters so you can read those before our each meeting.  If you would like to continue further in your reading before we meet, I will be glad to send you the remaining chapters online as long as the physical books are unavailable.

With all that is going on in the world today, this is a subject close to my heart. If you’d like to get a sense of what to expect from Pastor Galow through this study, or if you’ve never heard of him, you can view the zoom prayer group he refers to as a “church service” on Wednesday and Sunday evenings every week since the end of last year.  Each meeting begins with prayer and the blowing of the Shofar. There have been many captivating and well-known guest speakers in attendance, as well as many regulars that appear to lead prayer and worship from all over the world. Here’s the link to view: https://worldprayernetwork.org/.

If you would like more information, email mperry@kassay.com. The group began on September 25, but you can join at any point – and please feel free to invite or bring along a friend!
